Mezzo-soprano Julia Cavallaro appears frequently in Boston as a solo and small-ensemble singer specializing in both Baroque and modern repertoire. Recent concerts include Satie’s Socrate with Rodney Lister and Charley Blandy on the BU Faculty Recital Series, Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, sacred music of Purcell and Blow with the Whitehall Project on the 2012 SoHIP Summer Concert Series, and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Mozart’s Coronation Mass as a chorus member of the Handel and Haydn Society. Ms. Cavallaro has performed in operas with the Boston Early Music Festival, Amherst Early Music Festival, Boston Metro Opera, and Harvard Early Music Society. Her training in historical performance includes the International Baroque Institute at Longy, Vancouver Early Music Baroque Vocal Programme, and Pacific MusicWorks Accademia d'Amore. She holds a MusM in Voice Performance from the BU College of Fine Arts, and an AB in Music from Harvard College. Ms. Cavallaro is also an associate program director at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, where she plans and administers courses in music, foreign languages, literature, writing, history, and science, among others.
